Sustainability

Our kindling is a by-product from our log-splitting process.  We never buy-in kindling from other suppliers, so there are no associated transport costs or emissions.  We use large, woven sacks, holding around 10 times the normal quantity of kindling that other retailers sell.  Please help us to be as sustainable as we can be, by returning our sacks for re-use.

Dry, seasoned kindling

Our seasoned kindling, which is sustainably produced from our tree work in the Weymouth area.  The kindling is a by-product of our log splitting process, therefore absolutely nothing is wasted.  Large splinters of wood have a big surface area, so they catch light easily.

How to get your fire started

Follow these simple steps, then light your fire consistently, every time;

  1. First of all, crumple up 5-6 sheets of dry newspaper and place in your hearth or wood burner.
  2. Place 6 pieces of seasoned kindling on top, stacked in a criss-cross way.
  3. Place a dried log on either side of the paper and kindling, with one log on top.
  4. Most importantly, ensure there are plenty of air gaps around the paper and wood.
  5. Light the paper from beneath, after that, watch the fire ignite!

1 Sack (£13.50)

Sacks of kindling can be collected from our premises at Deepdale, 180 Lanehouse Rocks Road, Weymouth, DT4 9HX, by prior arrangement.  For orders of up to 10 sacks, we charge a delivery fee of £10 within a 5 mile radius, and £20 from a 5 to 10 mile radius.  Many customers order a sack or three with a bulk loose load of logs.
