Dale recently attended a weekend rope splicing workshop with the team at Treekit in Bournemouth. Over the two days he learned a variety of rope splicing techniques with different types of cordage, but particularly with 16 strand and 24-strand double-braid arborist rope. It’s fair to say that whilst the facilities were excellent, and the trainers (Sid Howells and John Shutler) sage-like in the dark art of splicing, Dale needs a bit of practice before he would consider himself proficient.
The training was first-rate, completely hands-on and thoroughly enjoyable, and over coming weeks Dale will be making a range of different rope ‘tools’ such as adjustable ‘loopie’ and ‘whoopie’ slings, and other items such as lanyards. Watch this space…
