Tree coppicing in Dorchester
The clients at this property called us and enquired about tree coppicing in Dorchester. Coppicing is a traditional technique for managing trees as a source of wood fuel or building material. The cut poles can also be used for craft items, such as hurdles, or handles for tools. In this case, the owners are responsible for the upkeep of the land. They were concerned about the trees becoming too large for the space, especially being so close to the railway. Their embankment is steeply sloping, which made the work quite tricky. They also asked us to fell two larger trees that were overhanging the railway track, then trim their front hedge.
Josh and I completed the work over two days, hiring the impressive Timberwolf 230DHB Chipper from Sydenhams Hire at Dorchester. This capable machine made short work of the four tonnes of material we removed from the site. We were also delighted to be able to recycle the woodchip at New Barn Field Centre. They use our woodchip to mulch areas of their site where required.
